NFPJ takes out rally to mark World Photography Day

The National Forum of Photo Journalists (NFPJ) today took out a rally to mark the occasion of the 178th World Photography Day. Photography has its roots dating back to August 19, 1839 in France. The Day is being celebrated in Nepal for the past 13 years.

The rally started from Bhrikutimandap and went around Bhadrakali, Shahid Gate, Sundhara, Ratnapark and Purano Bus Park before returning to the starting venue and converging into a corner meeting.

On the occasion, NFPJ Chairman Dhruba Ale said the photography day is not only for the photo journalists but everyone with belief in photography.

NFPJ’s former Chair Kabindraman Shakya said the organisation was established with an aim for protecting the photo journalists’ rights and their development.

Video Camera Association’s Chair Dillip Thapa Magar termed the video and photo journalism as the most risky in the practice and called on the state for arrangement of provisions for the two type of journalism.

Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus’ photo journalist and photography teacher Madhusudan Thapa; NFPJ Kaski’s Chair Indra Poudel; NFPJ Palpa Chair Krishna Darnal among others spoke of the important role played by NFPJ in the development of photo journalism.
